Crypto.com, Canary Capital Launch First U.S. Private Investment Trust for CRO

Crypto.com and digital asset investment firm Canary Capital Group LLC announced Monday the creation of the Canary CRO Trust, a private investment vehicle that will offer U.S.-based accredited investors access to CRO, the native token of the Cronos blockchain network.

The trust is set to become the first private U.S. investment product focused exclusively on CRO, signalling a new step toward integrating digital assets into regulated securities markets. The investment vehicle is designed to track the price of CRO and provide simplified exposure to the token through a registered trust structure.

New Investment Path for U.S. Accredited Investors

The Canary CRO Trust will be available to individual and institutional accredited investors within the United States. The structure aims to offer a regulated method for participating in the Cronos ecosystem, as broader adoption of token-based products continues across financial markets.

According to the companies, the trust is intended to mirror the price movements of CRO, which operates as the utility token of the Cronos blockchain. Unlike direct token purchases via exchanges, the trust enables exposure through a traditional investment format, potentially appealing to investors who prefer securities-based approaches.

Crypto.com has previously engaged in efforts to broaden investor access to cryptocurrency products, including a recently announced partnership with Trump Media & Technology Group to launch a range of exchange-traded funds. The CRO trust marks the first time a single-asset trust for Cronos will be accessible to U.S. investors in this manner.

Cronos Network Seeks Broader Recognition

CRO powers the Cronos blockchain, a decentralised network built using the Cosmos SDK and compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Its technical framework allows for interoperability with both Ethereum-based and Cosmos-based applications, positioning Cronos as a flexible infrastructure for developers and decentralised finance protocols.

Cronos also emphasises scalability and low transaction fees—features that the companies say make it well-suited for broad use among developers and end users. While CRO is already available on public exchanges, the launch of a U.S.-based trust introduces a new channel that aligns with regulatory frameworks.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, executives from both firms noted the increasing demand for regulated crypto investment products. They expressed confidence that the new trust could serve as a model for additional token-based securities in the future.

The trust is expected to be made available in the coming months, pending regulatory and compliance reviews. It will operate as a private placement and not be listed on public trading platforms.
